Beauty Salon Organization Facelift
Beauty Salon Organization Facelift
One of my favorite projects so far this year has been the Reserved Salon which is a chic hair and makeup studio located in Pearland. The salon owner, Emily, is an incredibly talented artist who was ready for a beauty salon organization facelift. She knew her space wasn’t functioning at top efficiency. She needed a revamp for her storage and did not like the flow of the space for clients. Along with my business organization skills, I knew binge watching Tabatha’s Salon Takeover was going to pay off somewhere! Seriously though, if you need some fierce highlights or a beauty coach, call Emily.
Retail spaces are fun and energetic to work in. I love putting myself in the shoes of the customer to analyze the functionality and style of the space. Beauty salons and spas aim to create a peaceful and relaxing space. This mood is ignited when the customer walks through the door. Unless you have a hostess greeting your guests, you want to create a flow that is intuitive – where to sit and wait, where hang your coat and bag and easy directions to the nearest bathroom.
The first thing I noticed is that she had two doors leading to her studio space and it was unclear which door was for entering. Either was accessible, but that can confuse clients before they have even entered your salon. This was an easy fix. We designated the first door from the hall as the entrance and added a sign for clarity. Not only did we simplify the customer flow but we also added ‘wall space’ since we deemed one doorway unneeded.
Functional and Stylish
Functionality was also improved in the client waiting area – think about their comfort! You want clients to feel so at home, they’ll want to kick their shoes off. We also updated the product display – this needs to be kept streamlined and neat. Think more Apple Store, less garage sale. We also optimized her ability to attend to multiple clients in studio at a time with two working chairs. An update to color storage and coloring process was included. Then a revamp of other materials in storage and even some label maker action.
I always approach a new job with the goal to understand what parts of a space are not working, as much as what parts are working. When we understand what does work and why it works, we can replicate that in the areas that need tweaking. Each business organization solution is unique and tailored to the needs of the owner, while keeping the business’s customer in mind. Whether you have a home office in need of an overhaul or a retail store that needs a fresh update- organizing your business will create the opportunity for you to be your most effective and productive self while allowing you to focus on well, your business.
