How to Organize Your Holiday Decor

Taking down holiday decor will never make as fun of a TikTok video as taking them down, HOWEVER we know that if you organize your holiday decor now, then next season’s decorating is much more merry! Now, if only there were magical elves that brought and took away all the lights and tinsel so you could skip the labor part.

(Side Note: Organizing Services include displaying, sorting, packing and labeling holiday decor for any season! šŸ˜‰

Holiday Organization

Here are our three main tips for organizing and storing holiday decor!

1. Use Different Color Bins for Different Holidays

Using different color bins for different holidays works best when you are consistent with your displays and quantity. This makes it easy to tell which bins go together in an attic, garage or storage closet. Example: Use red for Christmas, Orange for Halloween, Green for Spring, etc. IF you are someone who changes it up every season (I’m lookin at you lifestyle influencers!) then you may find it easier to pick one style bin [LINK: such as these Weathertight bins from The Container Store] so you can switch holidays depending on the quantity you are keeping.

2. Label Every Side

We like to use these Smart Storage Adhesive Labels. Stick labels on multiple sides of the bins so you are able to easily read them when stacked (i.e. long side and short side). Also, you may consider a label on the top depending on your viewpoint in storage. These adhesive labels also stand up to weather conditions if you are storing your holiday decor in an attic or basement that is not temperature controlled. Another bonus – easy to switch out label! You can label by contents – Christmas Flamingos – or label by space – Dining Room Decor – or you can just label by holiday if using one style of bin for all seasonal decor.

3. Purge Every Season

Did you change out your holiday decor theme or color scheme this year? (Stay tuned for next year when I show off my pink, purple, gold and teal Christmas Decor!) This is the best time to sort through your old decorations. Purge any that you did NOT display this season. This doesn’t apply to adorable keepsake decor passed down from your grandma or the popsicle stick tree your kid made in preschool – we’re organizers, not monsters! If the holiday decor is in good condition, check out this list of places you can take them to donate.
